Report on the 1st IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Leipzig Seminar

Leipzig. Das Shinzen Dojo Berlin berichtet über das erfolgreich durchgeführte 1. IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Leipzig Seminar, welches von Senpai Paul Kniep anlässlich seines 39. Geburtstags organisiert wurde.

The seminar aimed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge in the core areas of Kyokushin Karate - Kihon, Kata and Kumite - with a special focus on developing a sense of rhythm in Kumite movements.

Despite a limited number of 12 participants from Berlin and Leipzig, due to short-notice cancellations caused by illness, the seminar was characterised by an intense and dedicated learning atmosphere.

Experienced Dan holders such as Senpai Son (2nd Dan), Senpai Choijantsan Bayarkhuu (1st Dan) and Senpai Harald Zühlsdorf (1st Dan) shared their knowledge and experience, which enriched the learning process for all involved.

Ein Zitat von Senpai Son, das während des Seminars geteilt wurde, hebt die tiefe Verbindung zwischen Kyokushin Karate und seiner zugrundeliegenden Philosophy hervor:

"Kyokushin Karate always depends on its philosophy. The values of Japanese culture and education are an essential part of Karate training. These principles guide us not only in the Dojo, but in all aspects of our lives."

This quote underscores the importance of the cultural and ethical aspects that shape and transcend Kyokushin Karate.

We would like to thank Senpai Paul Kniep for his initiative and commitment in organising this seminar. His work has not only contributed to the success of the seminar but also highlighted the importance of continuous education within the Kyokushin community.

Our thanks also go to all participants and teachers for their attendance and contribution.

The 1st IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Leipzig Seminar has shown that through commitment, professional competence and a willingness to cooperate, the Kyokushin community in Germany and beyond can be strengthened and further developed.

Shinzen Dojo Berlin is proud to be part of this development and looks forward to future events that will promote Kyokushin Karate.

IFK German Open 2026: A first competition that remains in memory Black belt

A white belt, his first tournament and straight away an experienced black belt as an opponent: For Victory Ogbonna, the IFK German Open 2026 became a special experience. In Naunhof, the 27-year-old from Shinzen Dojo Berlin competed for the first time in the Kumite +90 kg category. After regular fight time and extra time, he lost by Waza-ari, but showed fighting spirit and got back up after a hard head strike. A first competition, an important experience – and definitely not the last.
