Your child grows beyond themselves

In the Shinzen Dojo Berlin, children from 9 to 13 years learn Kyokushin Karate – with more demanding techniques, initial competition preparation, and real progress. In small groups, we strengthen technique, discipline, and self-confidence – age-appropriate and without full contact.

The age of progress

Between nine and thirteen, a new awareness of one's own body develops. Children at this age want to compete, want to understand technique, and want to see real progress. This is exactly where our group starts.

In the Shinzen Dojo, children of this age group learn cleaner basic techniques, initial combinations, and age-appropriate partner exercises. Anyone who wants to can prepare for first competitions – however, full contact is not permitted for children. Safety and clean technique always come first.

Many children in this group already bring sports experience – others start completely from scratch. Both are welcome. Every child is supported individually and encouraged at their own pace.

  • More demanding techniques & combinations
  • Initial competition preparation possible
  • Age-appropriate partner exercises – controlled
  • No full contact for children

More than just a sport

What your child with us, they learn

01

Technique & Precision

Cleaner basic techniques (Kihon), initial combinations, and a clearer understanding of stance, posture, and sequence.

02

Discipline & Focus

Concentrated exercises strengthen stamina and self-organization – values that apply at school.

03

Self-confidence

Measurable progress through belt examinations provides orientation and strengthens your child's self-image.

04

Community & Respect

In the dojo, older children take on a role-model function for younger ones – responsibility that lets them grow.

No surprises

This is how your first Saturday unfolds

So that you and your child know exactly what to expect – step by step.

01

Arrival: Be there about 10 minutes early. Your child changes clothes (comfortable sportswear is enough), you stay in the dojo and make yourself comfortable.

02

Warm-up & Technique: Targeted warm-up, then basic techniques and combinations in the group – cleanly demonstrated and repeated.

03

Partner Exercises: Age-appropriate, controlled partner exercises consolidate technique and understanding – without full contact.

04

Bowing & End: Cleaning up together, bowing as a sign of respect, short review. This is how every training session ends.

Anh Son Le

Sensei Anh Son Le is the founder of the Shinzen Dojo and also personally trains the older children's group. With over 15 years of Kyokushin experience – trained in Japan under Soshi Kazuyuki Hasegawa (9th Dan) – he brings a depth that is rare.

"Karate is not a question of talent. It is a question of the decision to go back onto the mat every day." – Sensei

He knows every child by name, patiently attends to each one individually, and ensures that the dojo becomes a place your child likes to return to. Under his guidance, older children increasingly take on a role-model function for younger ones.
