How can we foster deeper respect and peace in all our encounters?

Liebe Shinzen Dojo Kyokushin-Familie,

I hope this message finds you in the best of health and during a relaxed time.

Today, I am making a heartfelt appeal to our valued dojo community, especially to the dedicated students and members of Shinzen Dojo.

Unser Dojo, mit seinen beiden Standorten in Berlin-Steglitz sowie in Berlin-Schöneberg, ist ein Leuchtturm des mutual respect, learning and growth. Our collective strength rests on the fundamental principles of Kyokushin Karate that we uphold.

However, in today's connected age, with platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other communication media, there is ample room for misunderstandings and conflict.

While these platforms are intended to connect us, it is important that we remember the bonds we have forged in person.

Regardless of whether it is someone you have argued with, exchanged knowledge with, or simply greeted, behind every post or comment is a part of our community.

Amidst the prevailing global crises, it is important to acknowledge that each of us is also struggling with personal burdens, be it in our jobs, daily lives, or families.

Such challenges can amplify emotions and sometimes lead to unintended clashes on these platforms.

To all students, all members, especially in our Shinzen Dojo:

Let us remember that our dojo is not just a place where we improve our physical abilities, but also a place that cultivates our Spirit and our soul cultivates. Carry the ethos and values of our dojo into all our interactions, whether face-to-face or online. Practice patience, understanding and the highest respect, regardless of the medium.

Sosai Mas Oyama sagte einmal:

"The heart of our karate is the real fight. Without real fight, there can be no proof. Without proof, there is no trust. Without trust, there is no respect."

Let this thought guide you and drive us to seek understanding and trust in every exchange, thereby fostering respect.

I sincerely appeal to everyone to rise above conflicts and acknowledge that, despite our different points of view, each of us is connected by our shared love for Kyokushin Karate.

Let us listen actively, accept different perspectives with goodwill, and always remember that different opinions enrich our shared journey.

May our interactions, both in the physical and digital worlds, reflect the mutual respect and unity we have cultivated in our dojo.

May these platforms be a path of support, growth, and enlightenment, not of discord.

We live in complex times, and everyone is fighting their own battle. Let our dojo, both the real and the virtual, stand as a sanctuary of unity, understanding, and unwavering respect.

Stay strong, support each other, and let us continue our journey of growth and enlightenment together.

A white belt, his first tournament and straight away an experienced black belt as an opponent: For Victory Ogbonna, the IFK German Open 2026 became a special experience. In Naunhof, the 27-year-old from Shinzen Dojo Berlin competed for the first time in the Kumite +90 kg category. After regular fight time and extra time, he lost by Waza-ari, but showed fighting spirit and got back up after a hard head strike. A first competition, an important experience – and definitely not the last.
