Martial Arts Berlin: The best tips for beginners in Kyokushin Karate

Im Shinzen Dojo Berlin you will find a supportive community and experienced trainers who will make your start easier.

Tip 1: Start with the right attitude

➡ Learn more about the philosophy of Kyokushin Karate hier.

Tip 2: Prepare yourself well

For your first training session at Shinzen Dojo, you don't need any special equipment – comfortable sportswear is enough. If you stick with it for the long term, it is recommended to get the right equipment, such as a karate gi, pads, and belt.

➡ We recommend the Kyokushin World Shop, where you can find everything you need for your karate training.

Checklist for your first training session:

  • Comfortable sportswear
  • Water bottle
  • Motivation and openness to new things

Tip 3: Learn the basics

Kyokushin Karate is based on three central elements:

  • Kihon (basic techniques): Perfect your stances, strikes, and kicks.
  • Kata (form patterns): Practice sequences of movements to improve technique and concentration.
  • Kumite (free fighting): Test your skills in full contact.

➡ You can find all the details on the examination regulations page of the Shinzen Dojo Berlin.

Tip 4: Plan regular training

Success in martial arts comes from consistency. Plan at least two sessions per week to make quick progress. At Shinzen Dojo Berlin we train every Monday and Thursday from 20:30 to 21:45.
