4th KWU German Open 2025 in Berlin – Shinzen Dojo is there!

Am Saturday, den 20.09.2025, findet in Berlin die 4. KWU German Open statt – eines der bedeutendsten Kyokushin Karate Turniere in Deutschland.

Organised under the umbrella of the Kyokushin World Union (KWU) and the Dankezu Dojo, this event brings together children, teenagers and young adults from all over Germany and Europe to showcase their skills in the disciplines of Kumite and Kata.

For Shinzen Dojo Berlin, it is a special day: our student Julius is competing in the youth category and will represent our dojo in Kumite with fighting spirit and heart.

At the same time, Senpai Son, Lennart and Sophie are taking on the role of Fukushin (副審 – corner judge) for the first time – an important responsibility to ensure fairness and transparency in competition.

Why the KWU German Open is so important

The KWU German Open stands for much more than just sporting competition.

It is a place where the Kyokushin family from different organisations meets, exchanges ideas and lives the Budo spirit together.

  • International gathering: Karateka travelling from all over Europe.
  • Diversity of categories: Matches for 10 to 21 year olds, in Kumite and Kata.
  • Focus on fairness: The training and deployment of referees such as the Fukushin strengthen professionalism and credibility.
  • Budo values: Respect, discipline and friendship take precedence over everything.

Shinzen Dojo Berlin – Engagement on and off the mat

For our Dojo, participation is twice as valuable:

  • As an athlete: Julius shows his skill and heart in full-contact Kyokushin.
  • As a referee: Our Senpais make their contribution to the professional execution of the tournament.

This combination shows what the Shinzen Dojo Berlin stands for: training, commitment and responsibility – at all levels.

A look into the future

Participation in the 4th KWU German Open 2025 is not just a highlight, but also an incentive to build even more bridges between Dojos and organisations in Berlin and Germany.

Our goal is to work together towards a fair, transparent and respectful future for Kyokushin Karate.

Conclusion

Whether on the tatami or in the referee's chair – the Shinzen Dojo Berlin is proud to be part of the 4th KWU German Open 2025.

We wish Julius every success and all participants an exciting, instructive tournament rooted in Budo.

OSU!

IFK German Open 2026: A first competition that remains in memory Black belt

A white belt, his first tournament and straight away an experienced black belt as an opponent: For Victory Ogbonna, the IFK German Open 2026 became a special experience. In Naunhof, the 27-year-old from Shinzen Dojo Berlin competed for the first time in the Kumite +90 kg category. After regular fight time and extra time, he lost by Waza-ari, but showed fighting spirit and got back up after a hard head strike. A first competition, an important experience – and definitely not the last.
