The first Brandenburg Cup for the Shinzen Dojo

Henningsdorf. In der neuen Stadtsporthalle in Henningsdorf fand am Saturday, den 6. May, ab 9 Uhr der alljährliche Brandenburg Cup statt. Organisiert wurde es von der Deutschen Kyokushinkai Organisation (DKO), dem ältesten Kyokushin Karate Verband Deutschlands, welcher zum Shinkyokushin Verband gehört.

Fighting took place in full-contact style under the conditions of the EKO (European Karate Organization). The Shinzen Dojo participated in the youth division with eight male fighters and one female fighter. For the adults, we had two junior participants in the under 80kg and over 90kg categories.

Our young talent had to prove themselves in both Kumite and Kata, in free fighting and form fighting.

Success was reserved for only one of our students in the Kata section, and it was none other than Julyus Bo-Chien, who already took 1st place at the Little Fighters tournament in Karlskrona.

Afterwards, we continued with the pool fights in the children's and youth divisions.

How do you fight in a pool system? Everyone has to compete against everyone else, and then wins and losses are counted. Depending on the number of participants, further final matches may or may not take place.

Our boys in the junior section had a great experience for their first cup and were able to bag their first medals at the same time.

Category 8 to 9 years / Under 30kg

Tamino D'Agata: 1st place

Julyus Bo-Chien: 3rd place

Category 8 to 9 years old / over 30 kg

David Lakeyev: 2nd place

Category 10 to 11 years old / over 50 kg

Breno Mendes: 2nd place

After lunch, we continued straight on with the adults. Here, Abdulkader El-Madani and Anh Phi had their first chance to prove themselves in the Kumite category.

It started with Abdul, and he won this fight in regulation time. He lost the second fight on points, but due to other opponents withdrawing, he took 3rd place.

Anh Phi was able to win both of his fights and took 1st place in Kumite on his very first attempt.

We are proud of all the students from our Dojo and congratulate every single one of them.

It is not just the victories that count for us, but getting straight back up after a defeat and carrying on!

We would like to express our sincere thanks to the DKO and the KKC Hennigsdorf e.V. for the annual cup. Of course, we also thank our supervisors, coaches, supporters, families, friends, and fans who made this possible for our male and female fighters. We thank you in Japanese with:

IFK German Open 2026: A first competition that remains in memory Black belt

A white belt, his first tournament and straight away an experienced black belt as an opponent: For Victory Ogbonna, the IFK German Open 2026 became a special experience. In Naunhof, the 27-year-old from Shinzen Dojo Berlin competed for the first time in the Kumite +90 kg category. After regular fight time and extra time, he lost by Waza-ari, but showed fighting spirit and got back up after a hard head strike. A first competition, an important experience – and definitely not the last.
