The 1st IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Europe Seminar in Berlin: A milestone for the European association

Berlin. Das Shinzen Dojo sowie unser Deutscher Kyokushin Karate Fachverband "IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Germany" hatten die Ehre, vom 1. bis zum 3. September das erste IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Europe Seminar in Berlin auszurichten. Unter der fachkundigen Leitung von Saiko Shihan Roel Wildeboer (8. Dan), dem Europa Verbandspräsidenten, wurde dieses Seminar zu einem unvergesslichen Ereignis für alle Teilnehmer.

The importance of the seminar

During the times of the coronavirus pandemic, it was impossible for European association members to meet in person. Therefore, this seminar marked a decisive turning point for the European Zen-Kyokushin community. Since the founding of the world association IKO World Zen-Kyokushin in Japan under the leadership of President Soshi Kazuyuki Hasegawa (9. Dan), this was the first meeting of the European group.

International participation

The seminar attracted important Shihans, Senseis, and Senpais from various countries, including the

  • Netherlands,
  • Poland,
  • Romania,
  • Greece,
  • Wales and
  • Germany.

This European participation helped the seminar become a melting pot of Kyokushin Karate culture.

The seminar content

Over the three days, the seminar focused on the fundamentals (Kihon), the Kata (traditional forms) and the Kumite (combat training). Participants had the opportunity to refine their skills and deepen their knowledge.

Kyu and Dan gradings

Another highlight of the seminar was the opportunity for many students to achieve their Kyu and Dan grades. Three Sempais from the Shinzen Dojo successfully completed their 1st Dan, a remarkable milestone in their careers:

  • Sempai Marco Krüper from 1st Kyu to 1st Dan
  • Sempai Choijantsan Bayarkhuu from 1st Kyu to 1st Dan
  • Harald Zühlsdorf from 1st Kyu to 1st Dan

Furthermore, many students from other Dojos in Europe also achieved their 1st or 2nd Dan grades. This underscores the dedication and commitment of the Zen-Kyokushin community to continuous improvement.

A successful seminar

The 1st IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Europe Seminar was undoubtedly a success. Participants returned with new knowledge, strengthened skills, and valuable memories. This seminar showed how important it is to strengthen the community in times of challenge.

Thanks to all participants

Finally, we would like to sincerely thank all participants, organisers, and Dojos from all over Europe. Your dedication and passion have made the 1st IKO World Zen-Kyokushin Europe Seminar an unforgettable event. We look forward to future meetings and the continuation of our joint journey in World Zen-Kyokushin Karate.
