Starting sports again
Even if you feel unathletic: the start can be small, guided and without performance pressure.
Perhaps your last sports class was years ago. Perhaps a gym was never your place. Both say little about which movement suits you today. Look for a form of training that you actually want to return to.
Compare options honestly
This overview is intended for guidance. The Shinzen Dojo itself offers Kyokushin Karate.
| Your question | What you can clarify before starting |
|---|---|
| I don't know the exercises. | Is the first session explained and are there simpler variations? |
| I get out of breath faster. | Can I adjust my pace and take a break? |
| I am coming alone. | Who welcomes new participants and shows the routine? |
| I haven't trained in a long time. | What level of exertion is planned for the first session? |
| I am 40 or older. | Does the group fit my daily life and my current level? |
How to recognise a beginner-friendly group
A good start begins with an understandable explanation. Instructors ask about experience, show basics and explain how to address uncertainty or take a break. You do not need to pass a fitness test to ask for a trial session.
Finding a routine again after a long break
First, reserve a date that is easy to reach. Prepare clothes and water beforehand and plan your way home. Decide after the session whether the pace, instruction and atmosphere fit. More training is not automatically a better start.
Karate as a possible form of training
Kyokushin combines basic techniques, coordination, and fitness in a guided group. Partner exercises and contact are built up step-by-step. If you would prefer only non-contact movement, please let us know in advance and consider comparing other sports offerings as well.
Your first evening in Schöneberg
Regular adult training takes place on Mondays and Thursdays from 20:30 to 21:45 at Kolonnenstraße 26. Comfortable sportswear and water are sufficient for the first session. Your request will be confirmed personally; a chosen preferred date is not yet an automatic booking.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to get fit before I start?
You do not need any athletic preparation to request beginner training. Describe your current level so the instructor can discuss how you should start.
Is Karate a reasonable start even at 40?
Age alone does not determine the right sport. The decisive factors are your current level, your goals, and specific guidance. If you have any health concerns, please clarify your physical capacity individually.
